The Natural History Museum Rijeka is a small, specialized regional museum, founded in 1876 and opened for public in 1946. The Primorsko-goranska county is the actual founder and owner of the museum. Museum's main activities include collecting, studying and conserving the objects of natural heritage from the Primorsko-goranska county, Croatia and neighbouring countries. The Museum has 7 expert employees: 5 curators, a documentarist and a preparator and its collections house ca.90,000 specimens of the natural heritage (botanical, zoological, paleontological and geological collections).
